Privacy Policy
PriceCheck NG ("we", "us", "our") is a tool for tracking live cryptocurrency prices, setting price alerts and keeping a simple portfolio. Most of it is free, and there is an optional paid plan called PriceCheck Plus. It is open to people anywhere in the world. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. You can reach us at pricecheckng@gmail.com.
1. What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and a sign-in identifier from Google, because we use "Continue with Google" to sign people in. We never see your Google password, and we do not store passwords.
- Alerts. The coins, target prices, currencies and directions you set, and whether each alert has fired.
- Portfolio. The coins and amounts you enter, and an optional buy price. This is only what you type in. We do not connect to your wallet or exchange. Once a day we also save the total value of your portfolio in US dollars, so we can show you a value history.
- Watchlist and settings. The coins you star, your alert delivery choice (push, Telegram or both), and, if you turn on the daily summary, your chosen hour and your time zone.
- Notification history. A record of the alerts we sent you.
- Push notification details. If you turn on notifications, a technical subscription from your browser that lets us send alerts to that device.
- Telegram link. If you connect Telegram, your Telegram chat ID, so we can send alerts there.
- Preferences on your device. Your chosen second currency and your sign-in session are kept in your browser storage.
- Plus payments. If you buy PriceCheck Plus, we keep a record of the order: the plan, the amount, the status, the time, and the payment reference and transaction ID that our payment provider sends us. We also keep the date your Plus plan ends.
- Moderation records. If an account is banned or blocked from creating alerts, we keep a flag so the restriction can be enforced.
- Technical data. Like any website, our hosting and database providers may log things such as IP address, browser type and request times for security and operation.
2. What we do not collect
We do not collect payment card details, bank details, wallet keys, seed phrases or exchange API keys, and we ask you never to send them to us. When you pay for Plus with crypto, you pay on our payment provider's page, and we only receive a confirmation of the payment. We do not run advertising trackers.
3. How we use your data
- To run your account, sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To check your alerts against live prices and deliver notifications by push and Telegram.
- To show your portfolio value, profit or loss and value history, and to let you download your own data as a file.
- To take payments for Plus, switch Plus on for your account, and keep records of those orders.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
4. Legal bases
Where data protection law requires a legal basis (for example the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023), we rely on: performing our service for you (account, alerts, portfolio, paid plan), your consent (push notifications and Telegram, which you can switch off at any time), our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse, and legal obligations where they apply.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We use these providers to run the service, and they process data on our behalf or as part of the connection you make:
- Supabase: database, authentication and background jobs.
- GitHub Pages: hosting the website.
- Google: "Continue with Google" sign-in.
- Cryptomus (cryptomus.com): processes crypto payments for PriceCheck Plus. When you choose to pay, you are taken to their payment page and their own privacy policy applies there. They send us the order reference, amount, status and transaction ID, not your wallet keys.
- Telegram: delivering alerts if you connect Telegram.
- Browser push services (for example those run by Google, Apple or Mozilla): delivering push notifications to your device.
- ExchangeRate-API (exchangerate-api.com): exchange rates for some currencies. Our servers fetch these rates, and no personal data is sent.
- CoinGecko and Binance: sources of market data. Our servers fetch prices from them. In addition, when you view a coin chart, your browser may request chart data directly from Binance, which means Binance can see your IP address as it would with any website you visit.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service. Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage and a service worker to keep you signed in, remember your currency choice and let the app load quickly. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account from the Account page. Deleting it removes your account and the data linked to it, such as your alerts, portfolio, value history, payment records and notification connections. Accounts that have been banned or blocked cannot delete themselves, so that a restriction cannot be avoided by re-registering. For those accounts we keep the minimum record needed to enforce the restriction. We may keep limited records where the law requires it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain use, and withdraw consent. You can do most of this yourself in the app. For anything else, email pricecheckng@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission).
9. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your data, including access rules in our database so that users can only read their own alerts and portfolio. No online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because we sign you in with Google, we do not store passwords. Please keep your Google account secure.
10. Children
PriceCheck NG is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Links to other sites
The service may link to third-party sites, including crypto exchanges. Some of these may be referral links, which can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. We do not control those sites, and their own privacy policies apply once you leave PriceCheck NG.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email.
